Baseball Game Preview: Westwood Wolverines vs. Dover-Sherborn Raiders

The Westwood Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Dover-Sherborn Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westwood will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Westwood proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Hopkinton 4-2.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Dover-Sherborn's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Medfield by a score of 2-1.

Stephen Alphas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

Westwood pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dover-Sherborn, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Westwood skirted past Dover-Sherborn 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
