Basketball Game Preview: New Braunfels Unicorns vs. Veterans Memorial Patriots

The New Braunfels Unicorns will take on the Veterans Memorial Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for New Braunfels and six for Veterans Memorial.

Last Tuesday, New Braunfels was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-43 to Tivy. While the Unicorns didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Antlers 15-10 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ryler Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Yaniska Mestre, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Veterans Memorial took a blow against Pieper on Tuesday, falling 69-39. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1031st, while the Warriors are ranked 35th).

Veterans Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for New Braunfels, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
