Basketball Game Preview: Greencastle Tiger Cubs vs. Northview Knights

Greencastle and Northview are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Greencastle Tiger Cubs are taking a road trip to face off against the Northview Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Greencastle saw some tournament action last Saturday. They fell 50-39 to West Vigo. The Tiger Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their defeat, Greencastle saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sam Gooch, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Williamson, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Northview put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Mishawaka by a score of 56-47. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Cavemen are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northview's win came from a few key players Greencastle will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brayden Goff, who earned 15 points along with seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Perry, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Northview's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Greencastle, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Greencastle didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Northview in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 59-54 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Goff, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight assists and five boards.
