On Friday, The Southington Blue Knights faced the Maloney Spartans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Southington fell just short of Maloney by a score of 20-18. Southington's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Although Southington took the loss, they still got scores from Rashard Williams, Blake Stephens, and Owen Hunt.
Jesus Martell was the offensive standout of the match as he picked up 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Southington's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Maloney, their victory was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Southington will face off against Glastonbury at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Glastonbury will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Maloney, they will be playing at home against Conard at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Conard is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
