Volleyball Recap: Mariangel Gonzalez and Sofia Hernandez Secure Win for Franklin Academy

The Franklin Academy Panthers got the win against the Hollywood Hills Spartans on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

Franklin Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Hollywood Hills between 14 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-15.

Franklin Academy was led to victory by Sofia Hernandez and Mariangel Gonzalez. Hernandez had 40 digs and three assists, while Gonzalez had ten assists and eight digs. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 20 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Franklin Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Franklin Academy's record now sits at 5-1. As for Hollywood Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Franklin Academy will be playing at home against Avant Garde Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hollywood Hills, they will head out to face off against Deerfield Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Bucks at the right time seeing as the Bucks are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
