Softball Recap: Leesville Road Comes Up Short

Leesville Road extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Enloe Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Pride have lost by just one run.

Bryanna Guilliams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

As for Enloe, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victory was familiar territory for they, who have now won eight games in a row.

On Enloe's side, Avery Modlin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Modlin has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Enloe let Madison Haga and Mary Garland run wild. Haga went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run, while Garland went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Haga has posted since back in March.

As of now, neither Leesville Road nor Enloe have any future games scheduled.
