Softball Recap: Macomb Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bushnell-Prairie City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Macomb). They blew past the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans 21-6 on Monday. With that victory, the Bombers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Josie Elbe and Kendyl Danner were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Elbe struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Danner pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Elbe got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Danner went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those three stolen bases gave Danner a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lauren Bishop was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Sloan, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Macomb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Macomb's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Macomb didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Camp Point Central on the 15th. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they have also already played their next match, a 19-0 defeat against Brimfield on the 15th.
