Baseball Game Preview: Valley Christian Lions vs. Vacaville Christian Falcons

The Valley Christian Lions will square off against the Vacaville Christian Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Valley Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Delta get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jack Grexton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI and one run. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Domminic Eyster was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Loudon Carter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Vacaville Christian earned an 8-5 victory over Foresthill on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Evan Varty, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Zachary Romeo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Vacaville Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Valley Christian couldn't quite finish off Vacaville Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 and fell 4-2. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
