Softball Game Preview: Holtville Vikings vs. Brawley Wildcats

For the second straight game, Holtville will face off against Brawley. The Vikings will face off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Holtville has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Holtville's offense. They lost 11-0 to Brawley on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Brawley's part, not much got past Daniella Yescas, who gave up just a hit to keep Holtville off the board. Yescas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Roslyn Rubio, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiana Adame, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

The win made it two in a row for Brawley and bumps their season record up to 8-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Holtville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.
