Basketball Recap: Monarch Gets the Win

Monarch had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Broomfield Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 70-69. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Coyotes also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Monarch's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Laverty, who went 6 for 10 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. Laverty's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Dylan Ehrnstrom was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points.

Broomfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Joey Cook, who went 7 for 15 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Schmidt, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Monarch's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Broomfield, they moved to 11-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Monarch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-54 defeat against Longmont on the 4th. As for Broomfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-70 win against Silver Creek on the 4th.
