Basketball Game Preview: George Walton Academy Bulldogs vs. Athens Christian Eagles

The George Walton Academy Bulldogs will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Athens Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. George Walton Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, George Walton Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Prince Avenue Christian.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jackson Wells, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jaylen Alston-Taylor was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Athens Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 58-48.

George Walton Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Athens Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

George Walton Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Athens Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2022, sneaking past 46-43. Will George Walton Academy repeat their success, or does Athens Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
