Softball Game Preview: Princeton Bulldogs vs. Spring Creek Gators

Princeton is 8-2 against Spring Creek since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Gators at 6:30 p.m. Princeton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.

Princeton will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Goldsboro on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Cougars 24-9. The Bulldogs have beaten the Cougars the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.

Princeton got a massive performance out of Alyvia Bleigh, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave Bleigh a new career-high. Kaylee Mitchell was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Princeton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. They are 6-3 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Spring Creek came up short against Eastern Wayne on Tuesday, falling 7-1. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win got Princeton back to even at 7-7. As for Spring Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Princeton took their victory against Spring Creek in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 8-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
