Baseball Recap: Avondale Comes Up Short

Avondale lost against Walled Lake Western back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yellowjackets lost 19-6 to the Warriors. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Avondale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Prentice, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Prentice has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another was Paul Scherbarth, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Avondale's loss dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Walled Lake Western, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-14-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avondale will challenge Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Red Hawks at the right time seeing as the Red Hawks are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Walled Lake Western, they will take on Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
