Volleyball Recap: Newport Comes Up Short

If Newport was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Sweet Home on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cubs lost 3-0 to the Stayton Eagles on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Stayton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Newport is set to face off against their familiar foe Cascade at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stayton will take on rival Sweet Home at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
