Preview: Johnson-Brock Eagles vs. Freeman Falcons

Johnson-Brock is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Freeman is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Johnson-Brock Eagles will take on the Freeman Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Johnson-Brock: 29.6, Freeman: 29) so any points scored will be well earned.

Johnson-Brock pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sacred Heart.

The losing side was boosted by Taryn Ottemann, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Behrends, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.

Even though Freeman has not done well against Sterling recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Freeman took down Sterling 51-37. Given Freeman's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Sterling is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Johnson-Brock's defeat dropped their record down to 17-2. As for Freeman, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.

Johnson-Brock took their win against Freeman in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 46-26. Does Johnson-Brock have another victory up their sleeve, or will Freeman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
