Baseball Game Preview: Weld Central Rebels vs. Eagle Valley Devils

The Weld Central Rebels are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagle Valley Devils at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Weld Central has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Weld Central fell victim to Estes Park and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 14-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Rebels were not able to get on the board.

Weld Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marcello Rossi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. Oliver Park also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Eagle Valley lost 17-7 to Grand Junction Central on Tuesday. The Devils haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Weld Central's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Eagle Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Weld Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
