After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rockport-Fulton, Jones was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Sinton Pirates. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Maya Castillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She also put up two walks, which were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby Gutirrez, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Layla Salazar, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Jones' win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Sinton, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15.

Coming up, Sinton will face off against Rockport-Fulton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jones will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' game: after the Pirates faces off against the Pirates, they'll take on Jones again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
