Soccer Game Preview: Poway vs. Westview

The Poway Titans will head out on the road to take on the Westview Wolverines at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Poway is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Poway didn't have quite enough to beat Del Norte and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Nighthawks are ranked eighth).

Aiden Bauer and Carlo Gonzalez-Martinez scored both of Poway's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Westview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Rancho Bernardo on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Poway's loss dropped their record down to 10-6-3. As for Westview, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5-4.

Poway came up short against Westview in their previous meeting back in January, falling 2-0. Can Poway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
