Basketball Recap: Grace Academy's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Grace Academy was feeling good fresh off their 90-36 takedown of Carolina Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grace Academy Lions lost to the Greater Cabarrus S Stallions at home by a 70-53 margin on Thursday. It was the first time this season that the Lions let down their fans at home.

Despite the defeat, Grace Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Evan Buslovich posted 17 points and four steals. Buslovich's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Burris, who earned 11 points.

Greater Cabarrus S's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Teddy Helton III, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Xavier DeLeeuw, who had 19 points.

Grace Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-4. As for Greater Cabarrus S, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6.

Grace Academy will host Walnut Grove Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Greater Cabarrus S, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against NC H at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greater Cabarrus S is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.
