Softball Recap: Fort Plain Takes a Loss

Fort Plain lost against Mayfield back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Hilltoppers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lainie McDuffee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

Fort Plain's record is now 5-11. As for Mayfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

While Fort Plain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
