Softball Recap: Monument Valley Comes Up Short

If Monument Valley was feeling good fresh off their 22-2 takedown of Hopi last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Monument Valley fell just short of the Chinle Wildcats by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Hailey Etsitty was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

Monument Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Chinle, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Monument Valley has already played their next match, a 14-2 defeat against Page on the 12th. As for Chinle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against Window Rock on the 12th.
