Basketball Recap: West Laurens Takes a Loss

West Laurens lost against Westside back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The West Laurens Raiders fell 82-73 to the Westside Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Patriots are ranked 113th).

It was another big night for Dontrell Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine assists for Westside. The matchup was Jackson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aldrion Jones, who went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points and six boards.

West Laurens has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Westside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

West Laurens has already played their next match (against Howard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Westside will host Harlem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harlem is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
