Soccer Game Preview: Evangelical Christian vs. St. George's

The Evangelical Christian Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the St. George's Gryphons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evangelical Christian's last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Evangelical Christian fought the good fight in their overtime game against Lausanne Collegiate on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lynx by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that Evangelical Christian have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, St. George's made sure to put some goals up on the board against First Assembly Christian on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Crusaders a 7-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for St. George's in their matchups with First Assembly Christian: they've now won four in a row.

St. George's now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Evangelical Christian, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4-2.

Evangelical Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against St. George's in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
