Softball Recap: 25 Straight Home Wins for Bentonville

Bentonville faced Pea Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blackhawks a 12-0 shutout. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Darby Burnett tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Demi Donahoe, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bella Mears, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bentonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 15 hits in three consecutive matches.

Bentonville's win was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pea Ridge, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-3.
