Basketball Recap: North Hagerstown's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

It was fun while it lasted, but North Hagerstown's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Friday. They lost 81-55 to the Jefferson Orange Wave. The matchup marked the Hubs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

North Hagerstown's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Somerville, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Somerville is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Mccurdy, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points.

Even though they lost, North Hagerstown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Having lost for the first time this season, North Hagerstown fell to 5-1. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

North Hagerstown won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Brooklyn College Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Hagerstown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Brooklyn College Academy likes a good challenge. As for Jefferson, they will look to defend their home court on January 4, 2025 against Boys & Girls at 3:00 p.m.
