Basketball Game Preview: Herron Achaeans vs. Purdue Broad Ripple Lynx

The Herron Achaeans will face off against the Purdue Broad Ripple Lynx at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Herron had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were outmatched by Indianapolis Shortridge and fell 97-61. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ta'Vean Cowan, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Clarke, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Meanwhile, Purdue Broad Ripple humbled MTI School of Knowledge with a 72-16 victory. The Lynx haven't had any issues with MTI School of Knowledge recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Purdue Broad Ripple found their leader in sophomore Charles Simms, who earned 16 points. Clarence McGee was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Herron came up short against Purdue Broad Ripple in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 59-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Lynx's Seth Bacon, who went 6-for-7 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and four steals. Now that the Achaeans know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
