Softball Recap: McLean County Comes Up Short

McLean County extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-7-1 in the process. They came up short against the Muhlenberg County Mustangs, falling 15-0. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Muhlenberg County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Muhlenberg County's part, Abry Carver was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave Carver a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Wilkins, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLean County will venture away from home to take on University Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blazers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.56 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Muhlenberg County, they will head out on the road to challenge Ohio County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
