Softball Recap: Selah Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Selah walked away with it. They beat the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-1. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Wildcats on Friday, they had to take a 10-7 defeat.

Avery Brewer made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Brewer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Urlacher, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win was the third in a row for Selah, bringing their record up to 23-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Murphy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.

Selah will face off against Woodland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Beavers have averaged an impressive 11.6 runs per game this season. As for Archbishop Murphy, they have already played their next matchup, a 12-4 loss against Ephrata on the 23rd.
