Baseball Recap: Bellefontaine Comes Up Short

Bellefontaine had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Urbana Hillclimbers by a score of 5-4. The Chieftains were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hillclimbers earlier this season, when they won 12-8.

Cayleb Overmann was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Urbana, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Bellefontaine since May 2, 2017.

On Urbana's side, Grady Lantz was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Lantz has posted since back in March. Shane Hoffman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellefontaine will head out to face off against Indian Lake at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Urbana, they will challenge Graham Local at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Hillclimbers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
