Soccer Game Preview: Bryan vs. Burke

The Bryan Bears will challenge the Burke Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Bryan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Lincoln High, who was ranked 25th at the time (Bryan was ranked 24th). The Bears fell just short of the Links by a score of 1-0 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Burke's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Westview by a score of 2-1. One reason for the loss might be Burke's aggressive play style: three Burke players were handed yellow cards.

Their goal came courtesy of Helder Citalan, which was the first he's scored this season.

Burke's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Bryan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Bryan beat Burke by a goal in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 1-0. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
