Softball Game Preview: Fillmore Eagles vs. Webber Tigers

The Fillmore Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Webber Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Fillmore's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Andover 15-0. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Webber came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Fighting Irish.

Hannah Fox was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since May 2nd. Another player making a difference was Alexa Robinson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Webber was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Webber pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Fillmore, their record now sits at 14-4.

Fillmore couldn't quite get it done against Webber in their previous meeting back in May of 2017 as they fell 10-7. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
