Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Golden

Golden waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 59-38 margin over the D'Evelyn Jaguars. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.

Golden's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Paulson led the charge by going 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Paulson a new career-high. Leif Hansen was another key player, going 6 for 12 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

D'Evelyn's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Colehour, who posted five points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Emrick Steinat, who had six points.

Golden's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. As for D'Evelyn, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Golden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-60 win against Wheat Ridge on the 7th. As for D'Evelyn, they have also already played their next matchup, a 63-30 loss against Green Mountain on the 7th.
