Softball Recap: Cushing Academy Gets the Win

Cushing Academy lost to Suffield Academy back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Sunday. The Penguins came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 8-5. That's two games straight that the Penguins have won by exactly three runs.

Brooke Harb made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Julianna Morin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Maddie Soderquist was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Cushing Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Cushing Academy and bumps their season record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Suffield Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

As of now, neither Cushing Academy nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
