Softball Recap: Stratford's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Stratford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Jersey Village Falcons. Considering the Spartans have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Allison Hibbetts and Brooklyn Marks did most of the damage at the plate: Hibbetts went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI, while Marks scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Marks a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Elizabeth McGuire, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Stratford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Stratford's record is now 13-5. As for Jersey Village, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Stratford will challenge rival Cy-Fair at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jersey Village is set to take on their familiar foe Cypress Falls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
