Basketball Game Preview: Filer Wildcats vs. Wendell Trojans

The Filer Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Wendell Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Filer is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Gooding just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 56-42 bruising from the Senators.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wendell). They walked away with a 73-62 win over Malad on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans who have now won six games in a row.

Wendell's win came from a few key players Filer will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jarrett Borges, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordon Swainston, who went 9 of 20 en route to 20 points and five assists.

Wendell pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Filer, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-7.

Filer came up short against Wendell in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 62-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Swainston, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 23 points along with six assists and five boards.
