Basketball Game Preview: Lake Highland Prep Highlanders vs. Colonial Grenadiers

Lake Highland Prep is 8-0 against Colonial since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders will welcome the Colonial Grenadiers at 7:00 p.m. Lake Highland Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Colonial will be coming in after a defeat.

On Monday, Lake Highland Prep strolled past Wekiva with points to spare, taking the game 47-30. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Mustangs are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eryn Griffin went supernova for Lake Highland Prep, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Griffin a new career-high in steals (five). Myanna Hatchette was another key player, putting up ten points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Colonial unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to Horizon 60-54.

Lake Highland Prep's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11. As for Colonial, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Lake Highland Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Colonial in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 71-58. Will Lake Highland Prep repeat their success, or does Colonial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
