Basketball Game Preview: May Tigers vs. Cross Plains Buffaloes

May and Cross Plains are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The May Tigers will face off against the Cross Plains Buffaloes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cross Plains will be up against a hot May team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 15. May claimed a resounding 70-22 win over Gustine. Given May's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while Gustine is ranked 1363rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cross Plains humbled Sidney with a 53-19 victory.

Cross Plains has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points per game. As for May, they pushed their record up to 17-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Everything went May's way against Cross Plains in their previous meeting on January 3rd, as May made off with a 50-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for May since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
