Recap: Midfield Patriots vs. Athens Golden Eagles
The Midfield Patriots can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They strolled past Athens with points to spare, taking the game 41-22. This was payback for Midfield, who suffered a 64-59 loss the last time these two teams met.
Midfield found their leader in underclassman Kamiya Webb, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Webb has scored at least 25% of Midfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmin Johnson, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Midfield's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Midfield won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Forsyth at 1:00 p.m. on December 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (South Forsyth is ranked 125th in Georgia, while Midfield is ranked 132nd in Alabama). Athens won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Helena at 11:30 a.m. on December 23rd. Hopefully Helena focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
