Softball Recap: Genoa Area Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rossford

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Genoa Area). Everything went their way against the Rossford Bulldogs on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-4 victory. The Comets not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 13-1).

Makayla Magrum spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Emersen Bickel was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie Bronowski, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Genoa Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Genoa Area's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Rossford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Genoa Area will square off against Otsego at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rossford, they will be playing at home against St. Ursula Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Arrows at the right time seeing as the Arrows are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
