Softball Recap: Horace Starts Season with Win at Home

Horace took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Red River Roughriders 2-1. For Horace, this counts as revenge for the 14-0 win Red River walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

McKenna Mohs spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits.

On the hitting side, Horace's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Whitney Nystrom, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Red River now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horace will square off against Sheyenne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Red River, they will venture away from home to take on Hillsboro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
