Baseball Recap: Napa Takes a Loss

Napa was the 5-4 winner over Sonoma Valley when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-1 on Monday.

Frankie Robinson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Napa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Taylor's first of the season.

Napa has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Sonoma Valley, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.

Napa and Sonoma Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Grizzlies (ranked 679th) will meet Petaluma (ranked 31st) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sonoma Valley will take on Vintage at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (841 vs. 170).
