If Northbrook wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cy-Fair, they should've done a better job of containing Mia Romero. The Bobcats blew past the Raiders 3-0 on Friday with plenty of help from Romero, who had four digs and two aces. She has been hot, having also posted 13 or more assists the last seven times she's played.
One reason for the win was Cy-Fair's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-10.
Meanwhile, Bellaire waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Texans.
Bellaire had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
Cy-Fair better focus on containing Allison Barker and Elizabeth Haas as the pair were huge in Bellaire's win. Barker had 15 assists and four aces, while Haas had 15 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Barker has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Warner, who had four digs and four aces.
Bellaire was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 13 consecutive matches.
Cy-Fair's record now sits at 21-19. As for Bellaire, their record is now 17-13.
Cy-Fair was able to grind out a solid win over Bellaire when the teams last played back in August of 2022, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
