Recap: Windham Whippets vs. Manchester Red Hawks

After a string of three wins, the Windham Whippets's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Manchester on the road and fell 91-58. While losing is never fun, Windham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Manchester is ranked 19th).

Several Whippets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tahj Jones, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Malcolm Hunter, who scored 16 points along with three steals.

Leading Manchester to victory were Jayveon Robinson and Derrick Sheets. Robinson dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 16 rebounds, and ten assists, while Sheets scored 33 points. That's the first time this season that Robinson posted eight or more assists. Will Oden-Tann was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Windham's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Manchester, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Windham will be playing at home against St. Bernard at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manchester, they will head out on the road to take on East Hartford at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. East Hartford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 688 points over their last nine games.
