While most of the nation's boys and girls title-contending basketball teams were grounded at home Saturday by the coronavirus scare, at least four states finished off championship brackets on the court, albeit with few, if any, fans.
On what could be of the final day of the 2019-20 high school
basketball season, 12th-ranked Scotlandville (Baton Rouge) defeated St. Augustine (New Orleans) 66-39 to capture its fourth consecutive Louisiana (LHSAA) state championship, to highlight the somber day.
Missouri,
Nebraska and
New Mexico also handed out trophies Saturday, after

Playing in front of a limited number of fans as mandated by the LHSAA [
Story], Scotlandville jumped to an early 10-3 lead before stretching its advantage to 33-16 at halftime and cruising to an 27-point victory.

Reece Beekman capped off an incredible high school career as
the championship game's Most Outstanding Player. The Virginia signee played a key
role in all four state title runs, leading the Hornets to a 126-11
record over that time period.
The Hornets reached the state title game in each of the past 10 seasons, beginning their run of state title game
appearances in 2009-10.
Scotlandville won its seventh title in nine seasons while winning over 91 percent of its games during that period.
In other LHSAA action,
Port Allen captured its first state title in program history on Friday night, defeating
Rayville 78-74 in an overtime thriller in the Class 2 state championship game.
The Pelicans exacted some revenge on the two-time defending Class 2A state champions, as Rayville defeated Port Allen 61-48 in last year's state title game.

Collin Holloway put on a show in front of a nearly empty arena due to concerns around the coronavirus. He recorded his second consecutive double-double with a game-high 32 points and 11 rebounds, while teammates

Tawasky Johnson chipped in 14 points apiece.
