Softball Recap: Overbrook Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Overbrook ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Cumberland Colts 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since April 15th.

Angelina Campbell spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on 13 hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Van Elsland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Dufresne, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Overbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Overbrook's record is now 9-15. As for Cumberland, they dropped their record down to 10-14 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Overbrook will take on Highland Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cumberland, they will challenge Absegami at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
