Quincy has gone 7-1 against Liberty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will square off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
Quincy came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Geneseo, falling 8-2. The Blue Devils' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Quincy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avary Hlubek, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Kamryn Hlubek also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They were the clear victors by a 21-9 margin over North Greene on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Chandler John was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Claire Obert was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Andi Mixer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Liberty pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Quincy, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Quincy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Quincy came up short against Liberty when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 5-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
