Softball Recap: Devine Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Devine waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Carrizo Springs Wildcats 15-3. The result was nothing new for the Warhorses, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sam Zamora was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Devine got a massive performance out of Jaylynn Hernandez, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Hernandez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenny Cruz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Devine's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Carrizo Springs, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Devine will face off against rival Pleasanton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carrizo Springs is set to square off against their familiar foe Somerset at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
