Softball Recap: Burroughs Comes Up Short

Burroughs managed to slip by Apple Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Burros lost 17-5 to the Sun Devils on Thursday. The Burros were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sun Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Maesynn Drake was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Reyna Bojorquez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Burroughs has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Apple Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4-1.

Coming up, Burroughs will head out on the road to challenge Serrano at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Burros are facing the Diamondbacks at the right time seeing as the Diamondbacks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Apple Valley, they will face off against Sultana at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sun Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sultans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
