Baseball Game Preview: Staunton Bulldogs vs. Civic Memorial Eagles

Staunton is 0-9 against Civic Memorial since April of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Staunton and Greenville, and Greenville kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Comets by a score of 4-3 on Friday.

Staunton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Overby, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Civic Memorial fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Collinsville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kahoks. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Kahoks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jacob Flowers was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Civic Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Staunton, they now have a losing record of 5-6-1.
