Baseball Game Preview: Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders vs. West Carroll Thunder

The Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders will challenge the West Carroll Thunder at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Ashton-Franklin Center lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Serena, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's contest. Ashton-Franklin Center was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Serena on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Chase Near and Brock Lehman did most of the damage at the plate: Near scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Lehman scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Lehman has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Barrett Becker, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, West Carroll had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They never let Orangeville get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory.

The team relied heavily on Chanse Schnitzler, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Maddox Gendreau, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Ashton-Franklin Center now has a winning record of 2-1. As for West Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything went Ashton-Franklin Center's way against West Carroll when the teams last played back in April of 2023, as Ashton-Franklin Center made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ashton-Franklin Center since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
